The RSPCA's new report Animal Welfare Indicators Wales/Dangosyddion Lles Anifeiliaid Cymru brings together for the first time a set of indicators that provide an insight into what is happening in Wales with regard to animal welfare.
It highlights a range of welfare issues that impact on a variety of animals, and intends to create a picture of the state of animal welfare in Wales. It intends to benchmark welfare and aims to be thought provoking, encourage change and make recommendations on how improvements can be made to the lives of animals.
The report recognises the importance of partnership working across the animal welfare spectrum and encourages discussion about the many animal issues in Wales. It is hoped that the collection and subsequent publication of statistics and data will continue to expand, so trends can be identified and this information can be fed into important decisions that impact on animal welfare.
